KASTRI
CRETE
Crete is the largest and the most populous Greek island. It rests south of the Greek mainland, and its capital city is Heraklion, which is located on the north shore of the island.
Humans have inhabited the island since at least 130,000 years ago, during the Paleolithic age. Crete was the centre of Europe's first advanced civilization, the Minoans, from 2700 to 1420 BC. The Minoan civilization was overrun by the Mycenaean civilization from mainland Greece. Crete was later ruled by Rome, then successively by the Byzantine Empire, Andalusian Arabs, the Venetian Republic, and the Ottoman Empire. In 1898 Crete, whose people had for some time wanted to join the Greek state, achieved independence from the Ottomans, formally becoming the Cretan State. Crete became part of Greece in December 1913.
KASTRI
KERATOKAMPOS
At a distance of about 60 km southeast of the city of Heraklion, you will find the most relaxing area of Crete: Kastri - Keratokampos.
Our apartments are located almost in the middle of the village, a wonderful place with unrestricted sea views. The beautiful pebbles and sandy beaches of the area are a magnet for visitors, especially for those who love a quiet vacation.
Kastri is a small village with beautiful gravel and sand beaches, which can be reached on foot. There are two mini-markets, a fish shop, a Cretan souvenir shop, as well as 5 taverns and 2 coffee shops.
The place is ideal for lonely travellers, couples and families with children. It is almost untouched by tourism. The excursions will get to know the Cretan hospitality and will enjoy the wonderful Cretan, traditional food, from local products. as far as the fish lovers are concerned, every day the fishermen of our village will surprise.
